Some friends and I are homing in on the upcoming LeMons race at Infineon, dubbed Sears Pointless, just over a week away. We're prepping a pre-crashed 1979 Saab 900 Turbo and hope to run with 4 drivers. The roll cage is the limiting factor right now.
I'm embarking on a new activity that requires flame-retardant underwear? I wonder what *smart* people do for entertainment.

We are demonstrably less that fully sane, but the only issue with the roll cage right now is time. The fourth driver works at a shop fabricating, among other things, roll cages for race cars. We had to get the car straightened first, and we're all pretty busy folks. We may have wheel problems if the bent one can't be straightened. The bolt pattern isn't that common and I'm pretty sure that the wheel hasn't been made in many years. We'd rather not have to use the stock 15's.
We'll see. Phase 1 of the cage should be done Saturday, then we can get the seat and harness in. The rest is details. Many details, but none of them big.
Once we're ready, the two worries I'll have left are brake fade and fuel consumption.

The guys I was helping were supposed to cover over tonight to fit up the seat.
They all appear mostly to be flaking out.
We're doing a Chery Windcloud, which at least lets them steal lots of VW parts, even though the car was made in China and never imported into the US.
