GABF Tickets

So I've got 2 tickets to the Thursday GABF session that I can't use.  Anyone want them?  Face value plus some beer and they're yours.

Re: GABF Tickets

I did end up selling these to a friend of a friend.  Otherwise I probably would have gone down and camped in the motovan tonight.

I'll be going... not sure which sessions yet, though Friday evening is likely. I may try to go Sat afternoon as well.

I am. And I have some volunteer tickets from last year which I'll use this year (they have pushed all volunteer tickets to be used the successive year).

Re: GABF Tickets

Nice.  As expected Ticketmaster fucked it up again, not all members were able to use their membership number to get into the AHA session.

Re: GABF Tickets

That blows. The Sat am session is supposed to be the best.

Are you coming down earlier that week? If so, we should meet up (you have a place to crash if you want it; $10-15 cab ride away from downtown) and do some of the GABF-related festivities.

Re: GABF Tickets

We're only there for literally 24 hours, fly in first thing Saturday morning, leave first thing Sunday morning.  So little time to spare smile.

Yeah, it's a fun time.  The original plan was to rent a minivan and take the kids and the parents down for a few days, leaving them to play together while the wife and I enjoyed a couple sessions.  However the costs of that jumped quickly and the thought of 24 hours in the car with a 2 year old, a 1 month old, and parents didn't sound appealing.

I will be there Saturday. Not sure which session, I would guess the evening one. (A friend bought my ticket).

Steve, if it turns out to be the early one shoot me a PM, I'll be down there and not sober.

Re: GABF Tickets

I'm still waiting to hear which sessions I received tix; I requested my two in this order: Saturday afternoon, Friday evening or, barring that, 1 each Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. Guess we'll see.

Btw, make arrangements to meet up in advance- cell phone reception in the hall is rubbish.

Re: GABF Tickets

Looks like I'm going Friday night with a friend. If anyone else is heading out that night (or planning to scalp tix), please PM me- I much prefer attending with folks than doing it on my own.

Re: GABF Tickets

Solid year.  I bullshitted my way into media passes for the blog I've started writing for (see sig) and was able to attend the awards ceremony and the Saturday afternoon session.  I was seriously considering making this my last year, but we had a blast, I expect I'll be back again in 2014.

Re: GABF Tickets

I ended up at the Friday evening session and the Saturday brewer's session- which I didn't enjoy as much as I should have due to rookie-mistaking Friday night. (Quite) A few too many 10% beers Friday made for a day Saturday that still has me shuddering.

Good times, though, and some darn good beers.

I probably walked past you once or twice smile.  I will say I've gotten better at drinking reasonably.  All 4 of us were buzzed leaving the convention center (took a cab to the hotel) but no one was too far gone.

Re: GABF Tickets

I was at the evening session Saturday and what started as a fun night ended poorly.  My buddy got roofied at some point in the night, ended up stumbling around downtown, got robbed, and ended up at detox.  He has no recolection of what happened.  I thought he went to the bathroom at the beer fest, ended up waiting for him for like half hour, then started calling, texting and freaking out.  Then just assumed he got a cab home by himself (dick!).  Ended up he called me Sunday morning, "Dude I'm in Detox.  What the hell happened last night?"
Pretty shitty way to end a fun night.  All in all it was ok, he got his CC stolen and $20 cash.  But he cancelled his CC soon enough that no charges were made.
