Re: MOPAR OR NO CAR! -ikbrown's 68 Charger

Nice resto on the Charger. I  heart me some father/son car projects.

LordZed is definitely spot on about the wheels. Staggered 17" OEM-style wheels are what belong on this car. Ditch the American Racing cheese shredders.

Also, please elaborate on the '66-'70 E-Type S2 2+2 making cameos on some of the pics. My dad and I are restoring a 1965 S1 FHC now.

Nice, looks like you have some work to do. Great platform and great progress so far! I think some staggered 17's would look spot on!  embeer cool

66 Mustang, 68 Charger, 72 Chevy shortbed, 68 Fastback, 69 GTX...  There are specific year/models that make my heart hurt I love them so much.  The 68 Charger is one of them.  Not a 67, not a 69, but a 68.  Nice vehicle  up

Ha love the cheese shredder comment ... too true! And ya, LordZed posted the exact wheels I was thinking of! I'm all for OEM+ so I can fit some wider tires.

Good catch! Ya, my dad has a thing for British cars - even if they're notoriously unreliable. ha. The Jag in the back was my dad's 69 E-type 2+2. He had it back until about when I graduated high school. He bought it as a car to enjoy, we didn't really do many projects to it besides just keeping it running  lol and it was a fun car to drive! Basically the opposite of driving the Charger - it wasn't super fast from a start but was awesome accelerating from 50+ on the highway and was awesome in the corners.

I don't have any pics on my computer but I'll get some from my dad and post up.

Excellent project!  Now tell us more about the e-type.

On it! Asked for some pics from my padre.  cool

Oh ya, LOTS of work to do. Mostly involving sanding and discovering all the rust and botched body work that the car has to offer from years of rain state living.  facepalm I want to get it started but dreading how much that will cost! ha.

As you may have noticed from the engine bay pictures too, the original paint color was actually burgundy vs. the faded, swirly red paint that it is now.

Nice short list  embeer Glad my piece of American muscle history is up there! 68 fastback Mustang? After falling in love w/ the Charger I became a Mopar or no car guy not really having an interest in other muscle cars but as my tastes have matured a 68 Mustang Fastback would be my second choice for another muscle car to own. Love the lines of the fastback just as much as the coke bottle shape of the Charger and although it's more popular that also means there are much more parts available than there are for my Mopar B-body.

Ha, and ya I'm definitely not a fan of the 66/67 Chargers, 68 had the design just right w/ the non-split grille and circle taillights. That being said cuz of the faded red paint job when I drive it I still get people yelling YEEHAW or YA DUKES OF HAZZARD to me. haha.  facepalm That was a 69 people.

Beautiful!

I bet it's slow as shit.   star

Also, I think 17" torque thrust replicas would look badass on the car.   heart

Like these, but with black centers.

Hey! You spotted my Charger but w/ the correct 68 bumblebee stripes  up I dig those wheels too - like how 5 spokes like that look on Chargers in addition to the OEM+ style wheels.

Ya, it's super slow. But it corners really well!  star

Speaking of era-wheels, what do you think about these split 5-spokes on the Charger??  biggrin  lol Took this pic when I was painting the brakes on Stella last year and had the wheels off.
