Re: Off-Road Bar / Light Bar Interest - Possible Group Buy

so is there a specific reason this WOULDN'T fit our cars?  All the mounting points and everything should be identical right?

The bumper / front fascia is different. While the hard points are likely the same, because it's an abstract shape to fit the styling they wanted for the 92x, the dimensions of the bumper may not fit (or look good) with the light bar that clears the Rex version. Most likely, it will given that the entire 02-07 run (three WRX bumpers, IIRC) gets one bar, but it's probably best to double check.

WRT to the mounting points, it is possible that minor changes occurred due to rolling changes between model years (this part is speculation, knowing the auto makers hesitate to make changes like that once an engineering design is frozen but it is inevitable that problems be solved or cost cutting involved at some point). I have no knowledge of that occurring, and suspect it didn't. Someone else would need to confirm.

Re: Off-Road Bar / Light Bar Interest - Possible Group Buy

Hey Folks, again, sorry for the delay. On the west coast this week and my brain has not gotten used to it. Sleeping patterns are all erratic.

Here is the last update from Derek @ GOCO. I will be updating the first post with this info as well:

(From Mar 3, 2014) Here is the update ... I'm going to contact both the local Saabaru owners and see if I can get at least one to stop by before the end of next week.  My fabricator and I spend an hour looking at 92x photos and as I mentioned before, he also feels the 06-07 Impreza Offroad Bar is should be a very close fit with little or no modifications.  By having one of those two guys swing by, we'll take a look at the bumper and take a few measurements and within an hour we'll have a good idea what we'll need to do.  Then, we'll try to get one of the two to drop their car off for one full day in the first or second week of April where we'll do the actual confirmation fit.

This means, when we do our next build at the end of April, the Saab will be available.  So, that's something you can communicate to the community.  We'll likely make the production run schedule announcement next week.  We will limit the build to 20 bars and there is a good chance we'll fill up.  If you can point people to this page:
http://www.gorillaoffroadcompany.com/faqs.cfm
to get pricing information and then in the original post of that thread start a list of people willing to make a $200 before the end of March.  That will help me see how many folks are possibly serious and will let me know if the chance the build will fill up faster is higher.

So, take a look at pricing on the FAQs (I actually put it in the first post too), and let's start putting together a list of people that can make a $200 deposit by Monday, March 31st.

Re: Off-Road Bar / Light Bar Interest - Possible Group Buy

Hah didn't realize this was going on on here.

I'm in talks with Derek right now.  He may be using my car for the test fitting in the next few weeks.  I'm the backup tester because their office is like an hour from where I live, but if the other guy can't help them, I will be.  I'll let you know if I do end up doing it and what it is like or whatever.

I will say this, so far they have been extremely nice and professional, which with my recent dealings with my landlord has been extremely refreshing.

I didn't go to no rally.  They hunted me down because I'm the most outspoken Chicago Saabaru owner in the local Subaru community apparently.  cool

If the closer guy can't make it out there next Thursday I will be going.

Yeah I mean at cost isn't a bad deal don't get me wrong, but I don't need one and I'm not sure I would be a fan of how it looks on a 9-2x.

You're welcome.

They had some sweet cars in there. I should have taken pics.

A Jeep Srt-8 with a (T?) 91 turbo (Borg Warner.) Fucking HUGE turbo. Expected to make 1200 whp.

They also had almost a funny car type setup with an 800 shot of nitrous. It rans 6s.  up

Thanks for coming in today - we really appreciate it.  You should see an email from me explaining our next steps (which I'll also outline below).  We'll get those mud flaps to you asap, just need some info from ya (as stated in the e-mail).

So, for the rest of the gang here.  In short, everything went very well and we do not see anything that will be an issue with our standard 02-07 Impreza design.  In fact, there might even be a little more room between the top hoop of the bar and the bumper - which is always good news for the sake of having more flexible lighting options.

This is how we will move forward.  I will create a link for the Saab and add it here:
http://www.gorillaoffroadcompany.com/_a … 2014Q2.htm

We'll take deposits on this and treat everything as a 100% go.  When we start production, we'll build a 02-07 Impreza bar first and call john_matrix back in for a final test fit.  Should all go well, production on the Saab orders will move forward as planned.  If it doesn't we'll either determine how much needs to be done and save that for the end of the run just in case we need more time to make modifications (to ensure regular production is not held up).  Or, if for some reason its going to be much more than we expected - we will refund all deposits and final payments if that's what it comes to.

Please let me know if there are any questions.

Thanks again for your interest and your support.
